Crafting An Engagement Session That Feels Like YOU!

As a photographer, I believe that the best Engagement Sessions are the ones where a couple’s personalities and passions are able to shine! As far as I am concerned, basic Engagement Sessions are out and unique, niche sessions are in!

Read on for my 3 top tips for crafting an Engagement Session that truly feels like YOU!

1. Make a Plan with Your Photographer

When planning an Engagement Session with one of my couples, I consider much more than just time and location. I collaborate, communicate, & create a vision! I have found this not only ensures stunning photos, but also a relaxed and enjoyable experience!

To start, before any session, I like to send couples a questionnaire to get to know them a little more. I love to hear about what things they like to do together, how they met, etc. These peeks into your love story help point my creative eye in a direction that best suits your personality as a couple. 

After getting to know the couple a bit, I put together a few different shoot options. I even include mood boards as visual reference points. Then, we hop on a call to finalize a plan together and pick which shoot best fits them! I can’t overstate how much this front end planning elevates an Engagement Session’s end results!

2. Pick Your Outfits

Next, is the fits! Taking the time to think through your attire will elevate your gallery significantly. When you feel confident, you look your best and your photos reflect that! 

Your outfit should help you be more relaxed, allowing you to feel comfortable & confident! Most importantly, your look should be a reflection of who you are. Express yourself through your outfit! 3. Capture Candid Photos Doing What You Love

Lastly, there is nothing I love more than capturing the real moments of your authentic love. I will always prioritize genuine moments over posed photo-ops! What is something you and your fiancé like to do together? What makes you two smile when you are together? I want to capture the magic of those little moments! 

So, let’s get creative! We can go to a bookshop, arcade, coffee shop, bar, or maybe a significant location that connected to your love story. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box to make your session reflect who you are!
